Inclusive Yoga Program

Sesame Lane Educators in all rooms embed yoga practices into our daily routines with children from the Nursery right through to school children.

Mindfulness: For both children and adults, the ability to reflect, observe and soften into what is happening benefits work, learning, behaviour choices and relaxation. Outcomes can include a decrease in anxiety about past and future events as more time is spent in the present. With practice, behaviours become more considered and less impulsive. As awareness increases so does the ability to notice emotions arising and make conscious behaviour choices.

Physical body: Increasingly the variety of movement children experience regularly is limited to sedentary and restricted shapes. Yoga postures provide creative ways to access, explore and move every part of the body. When we can develop an understanding of how something functions, the motivation to care for it will also develop. Outcomes can include an increase in coordination, balance, strength and proprioceptive awareness along with knowledge of the mind-body connection and ability to feel emotions in the body.

Our Educators are trained by Paige Enright, Founder and Senior Instructor at Yoga Emporium.

This is just another way Sesame Lane is inspiring learning early

Benefits of Balancing

Balancing poses teach children that with increased focus, you can increase attention naturally, even in children who struggle with different attention challenges.

Physical Awareness

Manage stress through breathing, awareness, meditation and healthy movement.

Why yoga?

We include conversations, as well as exercises around how helpful yoga is for building strength. Talking about the different muscles used in poses and incorporating games and sequences.
