Diploma in Early Childhood

Most Educators are really big kids at heart and I believe making learning fun is the secret to happy, engaged children. I started my career at a crèche in the UK 18 years ago before working as a teacher aide and later in a council-run pre-school. I emigrated to Australia in 2007 and joined Sesame Lane a year later.

My approach to teaching is firmly rooted in encouragement and praise – patiently issued until I see the satisfaction on their little faces when they accomplish a task all on their own. It’s priceless!

I believe this is how children find their feet and get the most out of their first educational experiences. Childcare can be daunting at first, so to help that tentative little person become a confident learner is very satisfying.

Another thing I’ve learned over the years is that children are never to be underestimated. They amaze me on a regular basis with their level of understanding.

I live close by at Narangba with my husband, Stewart, and I have two grown-up daughters. When I’m not beaming with pride at Sesame Lane, I love horse-riding and travelling.
