Our unique and inclusive programs for OSHC and Vacation Care are appropriate for a range of ages demonstrating inclusiveness and diversity.

Kelly Chan
Coordinator / Nominated Supervisor

Meet Kelly our School Zone Coordinator

Qualifications: Certificate III in Children’s Services and Diploma of Children’s Services

My education journey began when I was a high school student volunteering at Sesame Lane Redcliffe, trying to figure out whether it was the right career path for me. It wasn’t long before I knew it was the right fit. I have been with our dedicated School Zone since 2006, working my way up from assistant to group leader to coordinator/Manager.

It wasn’t long before I knew it was the right fit. I have been dedicated to School Zone since 2006, working my way up from assistant to group leader to coordinator/Manager.

At School Zone, I watch proudly as the children mature, become more independent and grow in confidence. What I love best about this age group is that magic moments happen every day. Children of all ages bring with them a wild imagination and a brutal honesty that I admire.

As someone who specialises in the Outside School Hours Care stream, I believe children should be given choices, responsibilities and opportunities to initiate their own learning. This gives older children a sense of belonging and ownership over their environment.

We provide a welcoming Service full of positive energy, where school-based learning is crystallised and personal growth is encouraged. I believe in scaffolding children’s education… School Zone is a place where they can develop self-help skills and practise decision-making.

School Zone parents are a very important part of the process, and I welcome their input into the Service and program. I feel it’s important that strong bonds are formed with families to instil a sense of community.

I grew up on our beautiful peninsula, where I still live with my husband, Roy, and our two daughters. On the weekends, I’m a keen 4x4 driver, but not much of a cook – although I am always up for a laugh!
