Sesame Lane Narangba – Banyan St opened its doors in January 2002 and is just one of the 14 Sesame Lane Services in the Moreton Bay region. Our Service boasts large tree lined playgrounds which provide not only privacy and shade but lots of fun and adventures for our Happy Healthy Learners. Our long standing staff are dedicated to care and always look to provide engaging experiences that will inspire growth.

We have a strong relationship with the local primary schools and along with providing the Government Approved Kindergarten, Narangba – Banyan St ensures that children are school ready.

We have all the benefits of long day care with opening hours from 6.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. But Sesame Lane's inclusive programs are what really makes us unique!

  • Nutritionally balanced meals and snacks are cooked fresh daily in the Service kitchen using locally sourced seasonal produce.
  • Free nappy and linen service for children under 2 years which includes disposable bamboo nappies along with bedding for nap time.
  • An exclusive Japanese program delivered by Senesi Kayo, a fully qualified Japanese Teacher who introduces the concept of Japan and brings the language to life through songs, cooking, craft and other cultural activities.
  • An inclusive Yoga program for all ages. Our Educators have undertaken Yoga implementation training to embed the phisical, mental and breathing tecniques within daily practices.
  • Cooking Experiences are delivered in all classes on a rotating basis by our Children's Cook to teach children important life skills and healthy food choices.
  • Owlbert's Gardening Program was introduced in 2019 to take children from paddock to plate. Children will follow the whole home economic cycle as they plant, cultivate, harvest and cook with produce they've grown themselves. The program also includes climate and weather learning outcomes.
  • Music plays a big role in our everyday lives, engaging children with the world of rhythm and supporting gross motor skills and creativity. Our Educators use music throught the day to energise or calm.
  • Government Approved Kindergarten Program and educational programs developed through intentional teachings and children’s interests.
  • Before and After School Care with free pick up and drop off to local schools. We also provide Vacation Care during school holidays.

Providing positive experiences never fails to turn little ones into happy, healthy learners – this is something I’ve found ever since I started my career with Education Queensland 36 years ago, when I was a pre-school teacher in Far North Queensland and I have been a Service Manager for 27 years.

My motto as an educator? Simple: all children grow and thrive in a happy environment with lots of cuddles, love and encouragement. I recently celebrated my 10th anniversary with Sesame Lane and I still look forward to coming to work each day. It gives me great joy to create a caring setting with plenty of laughter, where every child feels comfortable and welcome.

What I love most about my work are the friendships with the children and their families – the ones that last long after the children have gone on to formal schooling. It’s so rewarding to watch the children grow into confident and resilient learners.

A relaxed Service free from stress and big on fun is what inspires learning early. Adults and children alike learn best when they’re genuinely inspired and feel at home.

Away from the classroom, I’ve lived locally for 30 years. My grown-up children have left home (but return frequently) and my husband and I are part of the ‘grey nomad’ movement, exploring Australia in our caravan as often as possible.
